In building a case for Kiwi business leaders, educators and government to stop advocating the traditional SME business model as being best/ right model (structure) for budding business owners, I have performed some research to understand how the Kiwi business failure rate compares with that of other countries.
I’m somewhat relieved to discover that overall, the Kiwi business failure rate is on par with that of large western world countries, as can be seen here:

However, this finding doesn’t change the fact that the Kiwi business failure rate is unacceptable; nor does it diminish the importance of Kiwi leaders challenging the status quo in order to start reducing this unsavoury statistic…a path that I believe should start with closely considering the direction/ strategy outlined in this presentation:
