Philosophies

When it comes to building and maintaining high performing businesses, these are my philosophies:

Philosophy #1

Financial success is actually simply a by-product (natural consequence) of a business focusing its resources on Critical Success Factors – and most particularly on devoting meaningful time, effort and energy on getting its stakeholder (people) relationships right. These factors are identified and examined in the books “Real World Proven Best Business Practices”.

Philosophy #2

The speed at which a business will evolve to achieve its strategic objectives will mostly depend on:

  • Its culture – most particularly the strength of positive connection between internal stakeholders that exists
  • Its available resources and how it allocates its resources
  • The competencies and capacities of its people
  • Its structure
  • The level of desire/ will to change that is evident among stakeholders

Philosophy #3

The most successful businesses are those which are genuinely client-centric (i.e. marketing-led), versus those that are production-driven. This concept is explored in-depth in my books.

Philosophy #4

The extent to which an organisation will achieve its strategic objectives will greatly depend on the extent to which the owner chooses to involve their team in planning processes (strategic planning most importantly) and then share finalised plans with their team. This concept is explored in-depth in my books.

Philosophy #5

Successful business owners/ managers/ leaders avoid trying to control the thoughts and activities of those who report to them. Instead, they choose to empower/ enable others to become the best that they’re capable of being by developing their capabilities/ skills to the point that they become as autonomous as possible in their respective roles.

Philosophy #6

The greatest sense of fulfillment that a business owner/ manager can hope to feel is when the business that they are responsible for leading achieves a workplace culture which is at least as favourable as their financial/ commercial achievements.
